Fethiye - Kekova - Demre ( St. Nicholas Pilgrim Tour )

 
I.DAY : Boarding the yacht in the scenic Fethiye harbour. Welcome party and information about the yacht and the pilgrimage programme. Night over in the harbour.

II.DAY : Cruise to the mystical Saint Nicholas Island( Gemiler Adasi) Explore the labyrinth of ancient churches and islands in the area. Overland trip to the Ghost City (Kayakoy) possible from the nearby beach. Anchor in this most peaceful of bays here overnight.

III.DAY : Departure after breakfast to the famed Oludeniz or Blue Lagoon . Swim in the azure blue sea and a chance to paraglide down over the spectacular sandy penninsula. After lunch on to visit the Valley of the Butterflies (Kelebek Vadisi) and evening stop is Kalkan Bay.

IV.DAY : After breakfast we arrive the picturesque town of Kas . From here there is an organised land trip to the ancient ruins of Patara where St Paul stayed. Soak up both the fantastic ruins and the sun on its miles of long golden beach. Also possible to visit Saklikent from Patara, a huge natural waterfall canyon. Return to the boat for evening meal and to meander the colourful streets of Kas.

V.DAY : Morning cruise to Kekova and explore the sunken ruins of the Lycian Empire (Lykia). Afternoon lunch, served in the village of Kalekoy , tour the Ottoman Hill Fortress and take in the spectacular birdseye views of the area. Evening stop is on the Tersane Bay with its Byzantine Church beach ruins.

VI.DAY : Afternoon cruise to the village of Ucagiz, chance for a closer look at the sunken ruins by canoe or simply wander the quaint traditional village with its' intriguing Lycian temple tombs. Evening on to the famous Blue Sea Cave (Mavi Magara) and the surronding islands for the night.

VII.DAY : Morning cruise to Soguk Su a beautiful bay with a natural cool fresh water spring well. Lunch is at Gokkaya where more Byzantine period church ruins are to be found. Evening anchor on one of the islands of Gökkaya.

VIII.DAY : Pigrimage visit after breakfast to Myra and the church and shrine of St. Nicholas (Aziz Nikola) . Afternoon tour of the impressive Roman amphitheatre and the Lycian Rock Tombs. This also the final stop of St. Paul before his journey to Rome and eventual martrydom. Myra too is our last stop as we have been cruising in the steps of his missionary journeys. Final meal on the boat, goodbyes and transfer on to airport or hotel.
